Health and financial security to employees

The financial security provided by the fund enables maintaining good health for a longer time. Taking care of one’s own health becomes more regular, and quality of life improves.
The activities of the employee benefit fund include granting benefits under the Health Insurance Act and additional reimbursements for medical expenses to insured members covered by the fund.

Employee benefit fund also functions as KELA office for matters related to the Health Insurance Act (SVL)

Benefits processed by the fund include:
  • Reimbursements under the Health Insurance Act for medications, dental care, and doctor’s consultation fees
  • Special reimbursement for medicines
  • Pregnancy and parental allowances (benefits are paid by KELA)
  • Sickness and partial sickness allowances (benefits are paid by KELA)

KELA finances the costs related to the Health Insurance Act.
The operations of the employee benefit fund are financed as follows:

  • Additional benefit reimbursements are funded by insurance fees paid by the insured members
  • Administrative costs are covered by administrative fees paid by the share holders.

Insurance relationship

All employees of the share holders within the fund’s scope of operations are insured, provided that their employment is neither short-term nor temporary. A person entering into a fixed-term employment contract will be accepted as insured by the fund if the insurance relationship is expected to last at least 6 months. Insured members receive a KELA card with the employee benefit fund number 46303.
Benefits begin from the start of the insurance relationship.
An insurance fee of €31 per month is collected from insured members.
Insured members are entitled to additional benefits of up to €2,000 per year.

Points to note when employment ends

Once you have received a pension or rehabilitation decision (permanent or temporary), your insurance relationship with the fund ends.
When the fund is informed of the termination of your employment, it will end your insurance relationship, and you will automatically receive a new Kela card at your home address.
In case of any uncertainties, please contact the fund.
