Changes to reimbursements in 2023

Financial supervisory authority has approved amendments to the fund rules 18.1.2023. Visits to a private doctor are still reimbursed by Kela, but procedures performed by a doctor will not be reimbursed apart from some specific cases. Most examinations and treatments prescribed by a private doctor will also no longer be reimbursed by Kela. These changes will not affect the benefits paid by the fund. A referral is still needed to examinations and treatments and they will be reimbursed if they are needed because of an illness. Starting from 1 January 2023 reimbursement for doctor´s fees and examinations and treatments will be raised to 75 % and the treatment fee to 100 € in the fund of the staff. In the fund of the operatives treatment fee will be raised to 200 €. A referral will not be needed to massage any more but the massage therapist will have to be qualified.
